Ernest Air Cooling Comes to Romford
Ernest Air Cooling has been installing air conditioning and ventilation in Sussex since 2005. Thanks to our ongoing work in Essex and East London, and the number of customers asking us to come back, we have opened a branch in Harold Hill, Romford. Bookings are open now.
The Essex team is led by Dave, our lead engineer in Romford, working with a trainee. Dave knows the area: Harold Hill, Harold Wood, Gidea Park, Hornchurch, Upminster and Brentwood are home ground. Tim, the owner, surveys and designs every system himself and stays involved from the first visit through to commissioning, exactly as he does in Sussex. To talk to Dave direct, call 07502 285071.
We fit the same kit the same way, wherever the job is: Daikin and Mitsubishi Electric systems, premium high-specification materials chosen to last the lifetime of the system, pipework routed internally where possible, every wall penetration sealed and made good, and the site left clean. Every installation comes with our 5-year installation guarantee and Daikin's 5-year manufacturer warranty.
We work with homeowners, landlords, shops, offices and surgeries across the RM and CM postcodes, delivering air conditioning, ventilation and MVHR systems.
Our Sussex diary is full into the new year, which is exactly why we have brought the team to Essex. The Romford diary is open, and the earlier you book your survey, the earlier your install date.

Air Conditioning in Romford: Your Questions Answered
The questions we are asked most by customers in Havering, Brentwood and the surrounding towns
How much does air conditioning installation cost in Romford?
A single-room system starts from £1,899 installed, with no VAT on a domestic installation. Two or three rooms on one outdoor unit are usually between £4,000 and £6,500 depending on the sizes, and we quote whole-house and commercial systems after a free site survey. Every quote is in writing, with the exact models named, and the price on the quote is the price you pay.
Which areas around Romford do you cover?
Our Essex team is based in Harold Hill and covers anywhere within about 15 minutes: Romford, Harold Hill, Harold Wood, Gidea Park, Collier Row, Hornchurch, Emerson Park, Elm Park, Upminster, Brentwood, Shenfield, Hutton and Ingatestone. If you are not sure, ask. If we can get to you comfortably, we will.
How quickly can you fit air conditioning in Romford?
We book your survey within days. Once you have accepted the quote and paid the deposit, we order your equipment the same day and confirm your installation date as soon as it has arrived, so you are never given a date we cannot keep. A single-room system is normally fitted in a day.
Who will carry out the work?
Our Essex work is led by Dave, our lead engineer in Romford, working with a trainee. Tim, the owner, surveys and designs every system and stays involved from the first visit to commissioning. All work is carried out by qualified, insured, F-Gas certified engineers.
Do I need planning permission for air conditioning in Romford?
Since April 2026 most domestic air conditioning in England falls under permitted development, so no planning application is needed, as long as the outdoor unit is not on a wall or roof facing the road and the home is not a flat or in a conservation area. Parts of Havering and Brentwood, such as Gidea Park, have conservation areas and Article 4 directions, so we check your address before we quote and tell you exactly where you stand.
Do you service air conditioning in Romford and Brentwood?
Yes. A service is £95 plus VAT for one indoor unit, £85 each for two, £80 each for three and £75 each for four or more. We clean the units, check the refrigerant and electrics, test the system and update the F-Gas log book. Most manufacturer warranties need a yearly service to stay valid.
